ALICE IN WONDERLAND SYNDROME

Yet another symptom I sometimes experience is ‘Alice in Wonderland Syndrome’ (AIWS) where sometimes the things around me can seem really small (micropsia), like I’ll be lying in bed & I’m afraid to move in case I fall off cause I’m too big for the bed! And yet other times I can feel miniscule (macropsia) like I’m almost at risk of disappearing altogether into the woodwork. The good thing is I’m not alone, others experience this also…..maybe Lewis Carroll did? His was probably drug induced though; we all know he was tripping out when he conceived the tales of Alice in Wonderland. This has only happened to me a handful of times but it’s pretty darn strange when it does.

Research into AIWS has found links to frontal lobe epilepsy; migraines; & brain tumors - because I have mine so infrequently & it is usually when I am quite tired. My doctor assures me that it is only a painless migraine.....hope so.
