BLOSSOMS IN WINTER

Blossoms line the street outside,
Spring has sprung them into life.
But how long will they last?
Please tell me, just how long?

Dry winds blow through,
The petals fall like rain.
Showering me in pinks & white,
Oh how lovely you are!

Your leaves they open
As the warmth of Summer starts.
You offer up your fruits
You want nothing in return.

Your gifts they fall to the ground.
Your blossoms they disappear.
Autumn has crept in,
Uninvited…unannounced

Your leaves they wither & fall,
They cover the ground below -
Leaving you bare my Blossom
Leaving you naked & cold.

Will you return again next spring?
Will you be even more beautiful?
For my Spring is long over
And my Summer has come & gone.

In Autumns wake I stand
And Winter’s chill is coming soon.
I have but only one season left
So will you come back again?

Why don’t you blossom in autumn?
Have you just grown tired,
Of the rush of Summer
And the brilliance that is Spring?

Why don’t you blossom in Winter?
When the skies they seem so grey.
Oh, how I wish you’d blossom in Winter,
Won’t you blossom in Winter for me?
