On the subject of depression in the workplace there was one beyondblue poster that I absolutely hated & the slogan read: 'open your eyes to what depression is costing your organisation' with a picture of some suit looking concerned about his bottom line. I can't seem to find the poster on the net so maybe they realized just how tasteless it was. I find it difficult to believe that this statement would have ever been considered nor deemed appropriate if the condition being depicted was cancer; heart disease; or obesity for example, rather than ‘depression’. And they are the very ones who are supposed to be working against this type of stigmatization.

It is a sad reflection on the times we live in. No doubt nursing is the same as education - everything to do with your students or patients is replaced with terms such as "clients" etc. It simply reflects that people will not care or do anything unless they see a financial reason to do so. It reminds me of "The constant Gardener" a great film about the fact that AIDS drugs while available are not being given to African patients at a reasonable price....
