I was so surprised & pleased to see on TV last night an advertisement about a wound awareness campaign entitled “the elephant in the room”. I have worked with chronic wounds a lot as a nurse & am all too aware of the impact they can have on a person’s quality of life & the financial burden they can become. Some recalcitrant wounds can take years to heal, or may even result in amputation if the correct care is not provided. This can prove problematic when some of the recommended dressing products, (eg. compression bandages, ionised silver, iodine based dressings) cost approx $25 a sheet/each. If you have a moment, please go to their website & sign a petition for increased government attention to be granted to the problem of chronic wounds.
