My husband is on night duty at the moment so I try to stay outdoors while he sleeps. I took myself of to the botanical gardens today, problem was it seemed everyone else in Melbourne had the same idea. I hadn't been for a couple of weeks & what a difference - the water lilies were in bloom as well as azaleas in every shade of pink. I met a large sulphur crested cockatoo that was chomping away on some type of conifer, he was a very curious fellow. I think I got a bit sunburt too, despite me slathering on the sunscreen. Can anyone tell me the name of the pink & mauve flowers at the top? They look like some type of poppy.

Hi Suzanne, just found your blog today via 3bt.Sunscreen won't work if it is out of date..I have been burnt too.I started to read about Buddhism when I began yoga for strength and flexability, so I no longer feel it necessary to kill things to eat well.I too think Audrey Hepburn is one of a kind, I watched breakfast at Tiffanys for the first time yesterday.
thanks so much for that - Iceland Poppies, they're beautiful. It's always nice to meet another vegetarian/vegan. I wish I could see a truly great film like Breakfast at Tiffanys for the first time again...there is so many poor films made.
