The first day of Spring!

Despite the day being grey I could still sense it.....the change. I threw off my jacket and put on a floral scent & went along with a song in my heart.

Walking to the market today in "sunshine" & seeing the first buds of spring breaking out everywhere - like these magnificent Magnolia's.

Getting a voice message on my mobile from my brother Steven - wishing me a happy birthday (a week late, but better late than never) & telling me "I love ya sis" - brought tears to my eyes, you'd understand why if you knew him, he can barely string two words together & his vocabulary consisits of "fair dinkum" & "you're kidding". This photo says it all really.

Walking past a daschund having brunch with whom I assume was its owner at a local cafe. The pampered pooch was all dressed up & sitting on its own chair enjoying some sort of beverage (which I doubt was water) from a mug.

Opening up a Christmas parcel from my mum & dad & finding it filled with sweets & treats - YUM!

Talking to my dad on the phone, he had just been told his best friend has Alzheimer's, dad was so vulnerable, so fragile, I could tell the news had hit him hard. My dad's a strong man, a tough man - it takes a lot to make him cry but he felt safe enough with me to allow himself to..... just a little.

I got my program prospectus in the mail today from UNSW school of public health & community medicine & I have to do Epidemiology & Statistics next term. There is no way out of it as apparently it's a "core" subject - I dread statistics. You may well be wondering why this is today's treasure - it's because even though I hate statistics I at least finally feel well enough to recommence study for my masters. And for once in my life I'm going to be happy just as long as I pass.

Having a Slurpee from 7-Eleven at the end of a long hot day. They always remind me of when I was a kid - on Saturday nights we would buy Aussie Rooster & a Slurpee and go sit and eat it at the local duck pond. I loved those evenings with my mum, dad & brothers.

Finally standing at the front door of my apartment after having to climb 5 flights of stairs cause the bloody elevator is out of order - AGAIN!

A few days ago I purchased some coke from a kebab store, upon drinking some it tasted flat & I realised it was almost two years out of date. Anyways, today I went to the local bakery to grab some bread, my husband also wanted a pie & a bottle of coke "I hear 2005 was a good year!" he exclaimed..... smart arse.
